ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the governing party for what he says is transforming South Africa since the dawn of democracy. Ramaphosa says the country is vastly different to the South Africa of the apartheid era.
He addressed members and supporters at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga where the party is celebrating its 112th anniversary. He has hit back at the party’s detractors who have accused the ANC of failing to change the lives of the vast majority.
“There are those who say nothing has changed but they also know that they are not telling the truth. The South Africa of today is different and vastly improved from the South Africa of 30 years ago and that has been brought about by the African National Congress. You like it or you don’t like it. Even if you hate it, it is there because the African National Congress has brought about real transformation in this country. Please accept it and swallow it,” says Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa also says the party’s 112th anniversary is the best time to celebrate the country and not just the party. He says the party will continue to work on uniting the country.
