The Gauteng Health Department says it has provided alternative phone numbers for healthcare facilities while trying to resolve billing issues with Telkom. Several hospitals in the province have had their phone lines disconnected due to non-payment.
Gauteng Health Spokesperson, Motalatale Modiba has apologised to the public. He says the department has published alternative numbers on their website. Modiba says they are working to resolve the issue.
“Already an amount of about R4 million was paid to Telkom last week Monday. With another R3.4 million being released today. There’s also an outstanding amount which is being verified. So, we continue to engage with Telkom as we’ll to find an amicable way to attend to disputes without impacting in service delivery.
