The man believed to have caused the crash that killed 11 children and their driver in Carletonville is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday on charges of culpable homicide.
The 55-year-old man was one of nine people who survived the deadly crash and has been under 24-hour police guard in hospital since the tragedy.
On Tuesday, a memorial service was held for the learners as families prepare for their joint funeral.
“A case of culpable homicide is still under investigation,” said police spokesperson Brenda Muridili.
“The case was in court on the 12th of July. The suspect did not attend, as he is still currently in hospital under police guard. The case will return to court on the 18th of July 2024.”
