Swartbooi said police were stopping and searching vehicles when the incident occurred.

“On Wednesday, 14 August 2024, the members were busy with crime combatting operations on the R316 when a red Toyota Yaris approached the barricade. The driver of the motor vehicle failed to stop and sped through the roadblock at high speed. The police members gave chase and forced the driver of the motor vehicle to stop. They searched the occupants and the vehicle upon which they discovered 44 bags filled with dagga.”

The suspects will appear in the Bredasdorp Magistrates Court on charges of dealing in marijuana.
