Shamila Batohi speaks on State Capture Inquiry cases

It will be a while before the NPA prosecutes cases from the State Capture Inquiry, according to the National Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi.

There is still a long way to go and in as much as we are seeing that there is more collaboration, we are getting the cases together and as I said, you have seen some of them but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in the system to make sure that we are able to deal properly with state capture and all other related corruption,” she said.

Meanwhile, the State Capture Commission has asked for an extension to complete its investigation into state capture. The inquiry was meant to wrap after 190 days.
