City of Joburg council meeting postponed

City of Joburg council

The City of Johannesburg‘s first council meeting for the year has been postponed to Tuesday. This after chaos erupted over the ballot.

The chaos disrupted the election of chairpersons of oversight committees. The multi-party coalition led by the DA wanted an open ballot. But, the minority coalition was opposed to this.

This after the majority of councillors in the Joburg council voted to elect the chairpersons by a show of hands, instead the secret ballot that the two parties had called for, said Mbundu.
