700 jobs will be created for R706 construction in Letsemeng

Nearly 700 jobs will be created for residents of the Letsemeng Municipality in the Free State for the duration of the construction of R706 between Jacobsdaal and Koffiefontein. The Roads and Transport MEC, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae, is handing over the project to communities.

The department’s spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, says the construction is part of a number of road infrastructure projects. Mophethe says the project will officially resume tomorrow and is expected to be concluded in June 2026.

“The MEC for community, safety, roads, and transport, MME Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae, will be in Letsemeng meeting with the communities of Letsemeng, Koffiefontein, and Jacobsdal, where she will be handing over the road, R705, between Jacobsdal and Koffiefontein. The MEC will start by engaging stakeholders and communities regarding the processes that are supposed to be followed, and later on, she will be doing the same with the communities of the two towns
