The ANC denies it sabotaged the first sitting of the uMngeni Municipality council. The DA won the ward and was looking forward to nominating and electing its mayor and deputy.

But there was a disruption when the suspended municipal manager tried to preside over the sitting. ANC Regional Coordinator, Mandla Zondi, says the party has accepted defeat.

Meanwhile, the DA says it’s aware of the ANC’s political tactics in uMngeni. It’s considering legal action after the municipality’s first council sitting collapsed.
