Free State Social Development MEC Mamiki Qabathe is seen addressing delegates at an anti gender-based violence campaign in the Free State. Free State Social Development MEC Mamiki Qabathe has tested positive for COVID-19. Qabathe has called on all citizens to take necessary precautions and follow COVID-19 protocols.

Qabathe fell sick after attending an anti-gender-based violence campaign led by Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Pinky Kekana. She has mild symptoms of the virus and is currently recovering at home. Rising cases in the Free State

Meanwhile, the Mangaung Metro Muncipality remains the epicentre of the COVID-19 outbreak in the province. The Free State Health Department says is concerned about the low turnout among the youth for vaccinations.

In the past few days, the province has recorded double the normal daily number of COVID-19 infections.
