Case against suspect in Limpopo’s Christmas family massacre postponed

A man, who allegedly killed his family members at Jimmy Jones village in Malamulele in Limpopo on Christmas Day, has appeared in the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court.

Fifty-two-year-old Enoch Ndou allegedly killed his brother’s two sons and five other relatives in a dispute over a house. The court adjourned to come with a date for Ndou’s next appearance.

Security was tight at the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court where Ndou appeared for allegedly shooting dead his late brother’s sons, Mpho and Ndivhuwo Ndou. Ndivhuwo’s pregnant wife, Portia Mabasa, was also among those killed. Their one-year-old child Wanga was also killed. Three other Ndou children – 12-year-old Rendani, 4-year-old Ronewa, and 8-year-old Dakalo – died in the incident.

Police say a dispute over a house led to the killings. The accused was reportedly at odds with his elder brother’s sons over a house left by his late father, who was Mpho and Ndivhuwo’s grandfather. Family Spokesperson, Thendo Mulaudzi, says they want the law to take its course.

“As a family, our expectation is that the law should take its course. The law should operate in law that the law should (sic). We do not want to give specification of what the outcome should be. However, we are expecting the law to take its course.
