Limpopo Social Development MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale has called on the courts not to grant bail to a suspected rapist and killer. A 34-year-old suspect is expected to face multiple charges when he appears in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The suspect has been linked to the death of seven women whose bodies were found dumped in and around Polokwane.
The Department’s spokesperson Witness Tiva says, “As the Department of Social Development we commend the police for a breakthrough in the cases and hope that the rest of the investigations will ensure that the wrath of the law is meted out against the perpetrator. Gender-based violence and femicide undermine the rights of people whom we describe as vulnerable.
“The justice system must deal harshly with perpetrators of such violence. Our social workers have already started interacting with some of the families to provide psycho-social support after this gruesome discovery.
