KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has described the brutal killing of seven family members from the Newark area as a devastating tragedy that has shaken both the province and the country at large.
Ntuli delivered an emotional address at a joint funeral service held in KwaDukuza on Saturday, where grieving relatives, community members, and government officials gathered to pay their final respects to the victims.
Speaking to mourners, the Premier acknowledged the deep pain caused by the killings, emphasising that the loss extends far beyond a single household. He said the incident had left an entire community traumatised and raised serious concerns about the levels of violent crime.
“This is not just the pain of one family, but the pain of a community and a province,” Ntuli said. “We are here today under tragic circumstances, and we must stand together as we mourn these lives that were taken in such a cruel and senseless manner.”
The victims, who all lived in the Newark area, were laid to rest in a joint ceremony attended by hundreds of mourners. The atmosphere was heavy with grief, as family members struggled to come to terms with the scale of the loss.
